NOTTINGHAM SPARKY'S STORY
Nottingham Sparky was first established in late 2019, beginning as a small weekend business operating under the name DC Electrical. Initially completing work for friends, family, and local customers alongside full-time employment, the company steadily grew through word-of-mouth referrals during the later stages of the COVID-19 pandemic through to 2023.

By late 2023, we were proud to welcome our first full-time employee, and the business has continued to grow ever since. At the start of 2026, we are now a strong three-person team, continuously developing our skills and expertise to better serve and support our customers and the local community.
​
Although the business has grown and evolved since 2019, our core principles have remained the same: providing honest advice, professional workmanship, and friendly, reliable customer service.
​
What began with small weekend jobs has grown into a comprehensive range of electrical services, including new circuit installations, fire alarm systems, rewires, emergency lighting, EV charger installations, consumer unit upgrades, testing and maintenance, landlord certification, and emergency callouts.

FOUNDER
Daniel Cook
I've lived in Nottingham my whole life and have always loved interacting with the people of this city. Working several customer facing jobs since leaving school in 2009, I always enjoyed help people solve their problems.
​
While working at a local bar in 2017 I made a decision to retrain and change careers. By self funding my training, and working with a local independent electrical of 25-years. I developed the skills and knowledge I needed and in late 2019 I did my first electrical job of changing 3 socket plates for my mum and dad.
​
Since then word of month has allowed by business to grow into something that I couldn't have dreamed of back in 2017. It's been an amazing move in my life and I can't wait to see what the next challenge will be.
ELECTRICAL APPRENTICE
Reice Mackale
My journey started in 2019 when I went to collage to study electrical engineering up in Edinburgh. This 2 year course captured my interest in the science and implementation of electricity.

It was in 2021, when I got my first hands-on experience as an electrical installer. Acting as a labour for a friend, I took part in several electrical projects during my weekends and holidays.
​​​
In 2023, I moved from Edinburgh to Nottingham and began working for Nottingham Sparky. And in September 2024 I started my electrical apprenticeship.
​​
It's been such a big move for me, and I can't believe how much has changed since my journey began in 2019. My current goal is to finish my electrical apprenticeship and become a qualified electrician.
